Building Your Dream Home? Start With The Right Answers.

We know the custom home journey can feel complex. Discover how our dedicated, in-house crew of master craftsmen eliminates the delays, budget surprises, and communication nightmares common in the luxury home building industry.

The Blue Mountain Difference: Our In-House Crew

What truly makes Blue Mountain Custom Homes different from other builders?

The answer is simple: Accountability. Unlike most custom builders who are essentially "paper contractors"—project managers who subcontract 100% of the work—we are a true building company. Blue Mountain Custom Homes employs a dedicated, full-time crew of highly-trained craftsmen who are on-site, building your home. This gives us unparalleled control over three things that matter most to our clients: Quality, Timeline, and Budget. There are no layers of communication to get lost in, and the buck stops directly with us.

Who is actually building my home?

Your home will be actively built by Blue Mountain employees—skilled carpenters and craftsmen who are experts in their trade and who understand our exacting standards. While we do partner with a small, elite group of licensed trade specialists for plumbing and electrical, the core structure, framing, and finishing of your home are handled by our team. This ensures the vision is executed flawlessly from foundation to finish.

How does having an in-house crew benefit me directly?

The benefits are significant:

Uncompromising Quality: Our team works to one standard: the Blue Mountain standard. We don't have to hope a subcontractor cares as much as we do—we ensure it.

Timeline Adherence: With our crew, we control the schedule. We aren’t waiting on a subcontractor's availability, which is the #1 cause of delays in our industry. This allows us to provide a more predictable and reliable construction timeline.

Seamless Communication: You have a single, dedicated point of contact. Your project manager works directly with our on-site crew, meaning your questions get answered quickly and accurately.

Budget Integrity: Our control over labor allows for more precise cost forecasting and helps eliminate the surprise overages that plague projects managed through multiple subcontractors.

The Process & Timeline

What does the custom home building process look like with Blue Mountain?

We’ve refined our process to be clear, collaborative, and stress-free. It breaks down into five key phases:

Discovery & Vision: A no-obligation call where we learn about your vision, discuss feasibility, and determine if we are the right fit for each other.

Architectural & Design Phase: We collaborate with you and our network of elite architects and designers to translate your dreams into buildable, beautiful blueprints.

Pre-Construction: This is the critical planning stage. We finalize budgets, obtain permits, and create a detailed construction schedule. You'll make all your material selections with our guidance, ensuring total clarity before we break ground.

Construction: Our in-house crew brings your vision to life. You'll receive regular updates, photos, and are welcome to scheduled site visits to see the masterful progress firsthand.

Completion & Handover: We conduct a meticulous final walkthrough, present you with your keys, and provide a comprehensive warranty package. Welcome to your new home.

How long does it take to build a custom home in Colorado?

While every custom home is unique, a typical project takes between 14 to 24 months from the initial design meeting to final completion. The complexity of the architecture, the level of finish, and site conditions are the primary factors. Our in-house crew model is specifically designed to mitigate unforeseen delays and keep the project moving efficiently.

How will I be kept informed during the construction process?

Communication is paramount. You will be assigned a dedicated Project Manager who will be your single point of contact. You can expect weekly progress reports with photos, regularly scheduled meetings (virtual or in-person), and prompt responses to any questions you may have.

Budget & Investment

How much does it cost to build a custom home?

This is the most common question, and the honest answer is: it depends entirely on your vision. The final investment is determined by the home's size, architectural complexity, property specifics, and the level of finishes you select. We build legacy homes, not budget homes. Our projects are typically priced on a cost-per-square-foot basis, which we can discuss in detail during an initial consultation once we understand your goals. We believe in transparent pricing and will provide a detailed, line-item budget before any contracts are signed.

Are your prices fixed, or can they change?

Our goal is to eliminate financial surprises. During our in-depth pre-construction phase, we work with you to finalize nearly every detail and selection, which allows us to provide a comprehensive, fixed-price contract. The only time the price would change is if you, the client, request a change (a "change order") or select materials that are outside the pre-determined budget ("allowances"). These are always discussed and approved by you in writing before any work is performed.

Is building a custom home a good investment?

Absolutely. A custom home built with superior craftsmanship and high-quality materials in a desirable area like Colorado Springs, Black Forest, or Monument is not just a place to live—it's a significant, appreciating asset. By building new, you avoid the costly repairs and renovations of an older home and create a space that has immediate and enduring value.

Getting Started

What service areas do you build in?

We are proud to build legacy homes in Colorado's most prestigious communities, including Colorado Springs, Black Forest, Monument, and Sedalia, CO.

I already own a piece of land. Can you build on it?

Yes. We specialize in building on client-owned land. The first step would be a complimentary site evaluation, where we assess the property for build-readiness, discuss optimal home placement, and identify any potential challenges or opportunities presented by the unique landscape.

I have an architect and a full set of plans. Can you provide a bid?

We are happy to review your plans. We can partner with your chosen architect to become the construction arm of your team, executing their vision with our signature quality and process.
